Credentials Exposure Vulnerabilities In Custom Web Publishing With XML and XSLT

Custom Web Publishing (CWP) carries with it inherent vulnerabilities for the exposure of any credentials a user enters into a browser’s credentials dialog box. As a result, developers likely should follow a restrictive policy for these credentials. Circumstances and attendant adverse impact will vary from situation to situation. The bottom line however is this: CWP credentials are subject to being intercepted and retained without any warning to users and without any knowledge that a breach has occurred.

Get(ExtendedPrivileges)
Type: Get

Result: Text

Description: Returns a return-separated list of the extended privileges assigned to the current account the current user is logged in with.

Example 1: Get( ExtendedPrivileges ) = fmiwp¶audit_trail
returns fmiwp and the custom audit_trail extended privileges for the current privilege set assigned to the current user account

Get(ErrorCaptureState)
Type: Get

Result: Number

Description: Returns a Boolean value for the Set Error Capture script step.

Example 1: Get( ErrorCaptureState ) = 1
can be used within an If statement to ensure that error capture is being tracked by you rather than FileMaker

Example 1: Get( DocumentsPath )
On windows the format of the returned data would be /Drive:/Documents and Settings/UserName/My Documents/. On Mac the format would be /DriveName/Users/UserName/Documents/. Special note: To use complete paths on Macintosh you should precede the path with "/Volumes".
